May 2025

As of the time of this update we have now seen 31 people saved in 2025. Pastor Weber, and myself, continue to go out door knocking, and telling souls how to be saved.

Watch for opportunities from the Lord! I was walking in downtown Wilburton, and came across a man sitting on a bench waiting for a ride. After a couple of minutes the ride came and he got up leaving his wallet on the bench. I called out to him, and he came back to retrieve it. He thanked me. There was not time to witness to him. Just a few days later I came across that same man sitting on a different bench, and I was able to give him the Gospel, and he accepted Christ as Saviour. Hopefully we can get him to visit our church as he did give me his address. Please pray for lost souls to come to Christ, and for new converts to come to the church services.

Mickey Ellis, Pastor of Poteau Valley Baptist Church, is preaching “Meaningful Ministry Moments in May” here at Genesis Baptist Church on Thursdays during a the month of May. These sessions will help prepare for the time Genesis Baptist will become its own independent Baptist Church.

On Tuesday, May 13th I went door knocking with a man here in Poteau, OK (the town my home church is in). We were able to see three souls come to Christ. Two sisters at one house, and just a few doors later a man accepted Christ as Saviour while he was in town to visit his grandmother.

We have begun posting short videos taken from some of the sermons at Genesis Baptist Church. Some are only a few minutes in length, others longer. You may view these videos at https://facebook.com/genesis918 .

At this time it would appear that I’m without a car of my own. My Nissan developed some engine and cooling issues after I had put nearly $1000.oo into it for other needs. I was advised to just use it here in Poteau (at my home church). At this time I’ll need to find something else. Having been caught unexpectedly, I don’t have the same amount of money as when I bought the Nissan. Please be in prayer.

April 2025

Almost persuaded: From time to time we visit with a lady who likes to remind us that she is “Number 40” (the 40th profession of faith last year). At times a man would be there too who was a Jehovah Witness, and we would witness to him, but he just would not come across the line and put his faith in Jesus Christ alone. A couple of weeks ago we went to see the lady, but she was not home. Pastor Weber left a tract on her door, and the next door where the man lived. This last weekend we went by to see her, and she being home, invited us in. One of the first things she told us was remembering Pastor Weber witnessing to the man in her living room more than once. Then she told us that he had died just days ago. All three of us thought of the horrible end to die without Christ. Almost persuaded, but lost!

We continue to go door knocking to invite people to church. We continue to see people accept Christ as Saviour. As of the week before I wrote this letter, Pastor Weber led a couple to the Lord while out. On a week day I was out front of the grocery store, and was able to witness to an employee on his break. He asked Christ to be his Saviour on a rainy day sitting in front of the store.

At the request of Pastor Weber, I’m now preaching the Sunday evening service while he takes care of Sunday School and the Sunday morning service. I continue to lead the singing.

Please be in prayer as we go out and about inviting people to church. Pray that the Lord will bring increase to His church here in Wilburton, Oklahoma.

With “Resurrection Sunday” coming we look forward to celebrating our risen Saviour. Jesus Christ bringing the free gift of Salvation to whosoever asks.

March 2025

A Soul Receives Christ: Friday Afternoon I went for a walk around the streets of Wilburton looking for lost souls. After two ladies from out of town, and a man who I’ve talked to before, I came to a man on a downtown street corner. After giving him the Gospel, he hesitated, wanting wait until later. So I explained to him that we may not have later to decide. The man then asked Christ to be his Saviour. He kept one of our Gospel tracts taking note of our Thursday service time.

Attended a Great Conference: Pastor Weber, and myself attended the Old Paths Conference at Maranatha Baptist Church in Bethany, OK. This was three days of great preaching and singing. There were also sessions on how to build a great church. The sessions included information for churches both large and small. While there Pastor Weber, Bro Fenn (from Poteau Valley Baptist Church), and myself went soul winning in Bethany. After nearly four hours of door knocking, with few answering, Pastor Weber was able to lead a soul to Christ. He gave the name and address to those at Maranatha Baptist Church so they could follow up.

A Windy Day: A few days ago we experienced a very windy couple of days, and this blew down our church sign. On a Friday I got out there and dug the holes deeper, and later that afternoon, Pastor Weber and myself put the sign back up, a few extra inches deeper, and more cement than the first time. So far it still stands. Even as the wind continued.

Another improvement: A small useful gate has been installed into the fence that runs in front of the church building. This will allow people who park out front to walk strait into the front door without going around the end of the fence. Presently there is a rock garden that must be walked through if using the gate, but we are planning a walkway through it in the near future. People are already choosing to use the new gate. A big “Thank You” to those who came out to help.

February 2025

So far in 2025 we have seen 8 Souls saved while out door knocking, or witnessing during day to day activities. A young man that I mentioned last month, who recently received Christ as Saviour, continues to attend services weekly with only a few misses. A family of four has been faithful to Sunday morning services, and occasionally at other times. We have a lady who is faithful to most of the services. Please pray others will become more faithful.

After last Thursday Evening Service, we had a little fellowship. There was chili, macaroni and cheese, chicken rice and various soft drinks. We had a total of nine at our fellowship which went well into the evening before finally winding down.

On a Saturday, Pastor Weber and I went to a home to visit and have a short Bible study. This is something Pastor Weber would like to begin doing with new converts who would be interested. If this takes off with more becoming interested, we would likely need to meet at the church as a group.

Pastor Weber has decided to soon begin posting short videos on Facebook at facebook.com/genesis918. We call these short videos, snippets. Likely to be extracts from sermons or recordings specifically for this. These snippets do not have an actual name at this time, but that will come.

We now have a porch light. A simple little thing that was missing. It makes a big difference at night when people can actually see the front of the church building. We are planning on lighting the sign in the near future.

Another planned improvement is to replace the baby monitor in the nursery with a small camera to TV so they can hear and see the service. We have the TV, but I’m on the watch for a camera that can plug into the TV’s HDMI port.

January 2025

The year 2024 closed with 75 Salvations. The Lord greatly blessed!

My home church, Poteau Valley Baptist Church, is having their Missions Revival from January 20th – 26th. I’m here in Poteau this week at my Pastor’s request helping. Tuesday, eleven (including the missionaries) of us went out to Wilburton to knock doors and invite people to Genesis Baptist Church. The Lord led Pastor Weber and myself to an elderly lady sitting outside of her home in the 15°F sun, and we were able to lead her to Christ. She came to Christ with tears of Joy. This makes four Salvations so far in 2025.

I’m scheduled to show my new video about our church planting work during our Missions Revival in Poteau. Lord willing, I plan to post an online version once it is prepared.

The week of Thursday, January 9th Wilburton had a 15 inch snow fall, and Genesis still had church while others decided to close that week.

One recent visitor who received Christ had been attending another kind of church and is now attending Genesis Baptist Church.

Once again we had Bro Tom Fenn and his family with us on a Thursday evening service. He preached and his family sang. This was a blessing!

Please be in prayer as I must do a little repair to my car. It runs ok, but the headlights are having a known issue with the low beams. I plan to take care of it once I receive my tax refund.

Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support!
